Ruffles and Stripes

About this time of year, I can't wait to start pulling out my fall clothes that have been stocked away in the guest room closet since last year, but the weather in Nebraska just doesn't quite allow it yet!  The 100 degree temperatures today completely squashed my visions of a September wardrobe of riding boots and cute leggings worn with knit dresses and printed scarves.
So, what's a fashionista to do?  Well, I tend to favor my "transitional" pieces to tide me over until the temperatures drop to at least 60 degrees, like my summer shorts in fall colors, and my fall pieces that are light enough to wear in the heat of the day, like cardigans and flats.
Today I'm sharing one of my "transitional" ensembles that is perfect for those hot September days.

Shopping Guide:

LOFT navy blue ruffle shell (available here; also in Petite)
LOFT 3/4 sleeve Pima cotton cardigan in lemon curry (available here)
Ann Taylor navy striped shorts (no longer available, find orange color here)

This was the perfect look for a dinner night out with friends last weekend, and the shorts could easily be swapped out for tan ankle pants for school.  I guess I'll just have to save my favorite fall boots for October...

Stay cool this week, and don't forget to do so in style!  Have a wonderful long weekend!  Hope to see you back here soon!

  1. I am so ready for fall clothes too! I started decorating our house for fall yesterday, and hubby looked at me with a VERY confused look on his face and said, "It's not fall yet!"
I said, "If school is back in, it feels like fall to me!" lol.
