First Week Recap

I apologize for being M.I.A. last week.  I haven't skipped a full week of blogging since I started 'The Fashionista Teacher' in April, but I always forget how worn out I am during the first week of school until it actually hits...Even my fifth year of teaching, still the same overwhelming feeling!

Since I wasn't around blog world last week, I though I better share a few pictures from my week since I know you all missed me so much!

My alarm went off WAY too early on the first day back for teachers, and I wasn't the only one who had a hard time getting out of bed.  Hopefully Miss Lucy will adjust to her mom being back at school!

Sleepy head Lucy heading out to do her morning duty

Shortly before heading out the door, my sweet neighbor dropped off a homemade blended coffee drink for my first dayIt completely made my morning!

Adventures of Ms. Smith and Covered in Glitter and Glue organized a Back to School blogger exchange last month, and I was partnered with Teresa from Confessions of a Teaching Junkie.  I was so excited open my package and find all of these goodies inside, PLUS it arrived just in time for classroom work day!!  Thank you, Teresa, for the cool stuff, and to the two lovely hostesses for organizing such a fun exhange!  Click here to see all of the fun stuff the other bloggers in the exchange received!

Up until this year, Lucy spent her days in the laundry room while Logan and I were at work.  We had been giving her free roam of the house quite a bit this summer when we were gone for short bits of time, and she did GREAT, so we decided to try it during the work day this yearLucy loves her new "lookout" on top of the couch, but it's hard work being a guard dog!

Lucy and I got to have our picture taken on the front porch on the first day of school, just like every year!  For my first day of school outfit, I decided to go with my lime green eyelet JCrew pencil skirt (yes, I know it looks yellow here), a simple white tee, a pink cardigan, and my JCrew bling necklace.  I always put a lot of thought into my first day ensemble, because I am meeting so many parents and students for the first time, and I want to make a great first impression!  I want to appear bright and cheery for the kids, yet polished and professional when meeting parents.

My students found this cute card waiting on their desks on the first day.  You can find it here on my Teachers Pay Teachers store.
WAIT...I'm giving away 10 postcard packs for FREE to the first 10 people who comment on today's post with your e-mail address!

My favorite book to read on the first day is 'First Day Jitters.'  Find my post about this adorable book here, and pick up my First Day Jitters writing activity for free hereThis year, my students enjoyed drinking "jitter juice" after hearing the story (during the writing activity) to help calm their nerves.

I have a sweet (and very social) group of 21 kiddos.  I am really enjoying getting to know their unique little personalities!  They all seem to love school very much, which makes my job much easier! :)
I think this picture sums up my first week with kids perfectly.  Photo courtesy of my husband at 8:15 P.M. on Friday night.

Have a great week everybody!  Stop back to see me soon!
