Back to School Fashion Week Day 3

I apologize for the late post today.  I spent the morning doing house chores and spending QT with Miss Lucy (enjoying her morning snuggles while I still can), ran errands and worked at school this afternoon, and Logan and I were out celebrating our 3rd anniversary tonight.  It was an action packed, but fun day!

I am pretty "wild" about wearing animal print no matter the occasion, so I wanted to show you some cute ways to style it for school or on the weekend, as well as sharing a few DOs and DONT'S to wearing animal print.

Here are two ways I am planning on wearing animal print to school this fall:

This first look comes with a funny story.  Two years ago I wore my new giraffe print pants to school thinking I looked pretty cute.  As soon as one little girl walked into the classroom in the morning and said, "Mrs. Watley, why are you wearing your pajamas today?" I vowed never to wear them again.  The "pajama" pants sat in my drawer for two years collecting dust.  Last week, I saw one of my favorite Instagram fashionistas wearing the same giraffe print pants and looking oh so cute in them, so I knew it was time to give them another try.  I wish you could see the tiered cuteness of this Loft black tank (find it here @ 50% off!)... a great piece to add to your fall wardrobe!  Find the necklace here.  I would add a bright coral or black cardigan for school to polish off the ensemble and to stay warm in the AC (it's always cranked WAY up in my building).

Look 2 is definitely going in my first week of school line up!  I love how cute and polished it is, and the skinny gold belt is the perfect finishing touch!  When shopping, I always try to look for basics with a "twist,"  like the scalloped hem on the skirt and the ruffled sleeves on the shell.

Here are a few ways I have worn animal print in the past:

Now for a few DOs and DON'Ts to wearing these fun patterns.

DO accessorize with animal print.  A cute belt or a stylish pair of flats can really be paired with any color or pattern.

DON'T wear it from head to toe.  One animal print piece is enough.

DON'T combine prints.  A zebra print belt with a leopard print scarf is just too much.

DO wear it with confidence!  Just as with anything, people around you will take notice (in a good way) if you're rocking something new with a big smile and your head held high!

If you haven't had the chance to check out yesterday's post, I think you'll LOVE it!  I showed you 5 ways to style a simple black maxi skirt for school, and one way DID happen to include leopard print! ;-)  Can't wait to see you right back here tomorrow!  I'm planning on showing you a trick for organizing your outfits for that CRAZY first week of school!  Link up your Back to School Fashion Week posts using the tool below or use #b2sfashionweek on Instagram!

  1. I love my leopard scarf! Funny enough, you can find really, really cute animal print scarves right now at Wal-mart in the purse section for cheap!

  2. We have animal print days every so often in my building - just for fun amongst the teachers. But I wear it on the regular! Leopard is a neutral in my world!
